In high school my senior English teacher taught us the Bible as in Literature. She took religion and used as a way to explain symbolism and teach us about different types of religion or different views. I loved the class and never once became offended. In history we teach it as part of America’s beggining. There are several time periods that you can choose from the First Great Awakening, Second Great Awakening, the Enlightenment time period, and if you are in current history you can argue the Third Great Awakening. Teaching religion is trying to show students how religion has shaped our countries and societies, but avoid pressing your beliefs or other religious beliefs on the students. Religion is extremely interesting, it just needs to be taught right.
